Destiny Odyssey
Brandon
-The Flight of the Magpie-
Brandon, the young man who soars between light and darkness
During the quest for his crystal, he became separated from his friends
Desperate for their aid, he searches frantically
Will such a heart, easily swayed, open up to the light of the crystal
or will he be lost in the depths of despair?
Stage 1
(DIALOG BOXES: THE EMPEROR is speaking to LAURREN, BRANDON's enemy.)
THE EMPEROR: Surely you've noticed the boy's special powers. Tell me, where do they come from?
LAURREN: Why should I tell you?
THE EMPEROR: With his power, my plan will easily come to fruition.
LAURREN: I don't care.
(LAURREN leaves. THE EMPEROR is alone)
THE EMPEROR: In the end my plan will succeed, even without that filthy bird.
-End of Stage 1-
(CUTSCENE, BRANDON is alone at DREAM'S END)
BRANDON: Hey! Is there anyone there? Great. Where am I now?
(BRANDON looks around and takes note of the scenery)
BRANDON: (thinking) Crystals that can break through despair? Cosmos never actually said anything about how to actually find these things. I wonder how the others are doing. Are they wondering about me too?
BRANDON: (out loud) Probably not. This little birdie always gets the short end of the stick. Whatever. I'll just grab the damn thing myself before this world falls to pieces.
-Stage 2-
(DIALOG BOX on stage)
BRANDON: The enemy's forces are everywhere. If I think this through, I think can beat them and snag all the treasure in one swoop!
(DIALOG BOX on stage; grabbing summonstone)
BRANDON: Oo! Shiny!
SUMMONSTONE: Who is there?
BRANDON: Whoa. Uh, hello there...rock...
SUMMONSTONE: If you keep me close, you can fly high without falling.
-End of Stage 2-
(CUTSCENE: BRANDON is walking around WORLD OF DARKNESS)
BRANDON: Still no sign of that crystal. There has to be another way to end this.
THE EMPEROR: Indeed there is.
(BRANDON quickly turns around. THE EMPEROR appears)
BRANDON: You! One of Chaos's guys.
THE EMPEROR: It appears you have been abandoned.
BRANDON: What?
THE EMPEROR: Tell me, why search for the crystal? Your comrades have already deemed you as superfluous. With your powers, you'd be better off aiding me. What say you, boy?
BRANDON: I don't sell out.
(BRANDON powers up and takes a fighting stance; his arms are covered with darkness while his heart glows with light)
BRANDON: Especially to guys like you.
(after the fight)
THE EMPEROR: Is this all you can do by yourself?
BRANDON: What?
(THE EMPEROR opens a Thunder Crest on the ground and shocks BRANDON. BRANDON falls to his knees)
THE EMPEROR: It seems I've found the weak link in Cosmos's chain. It's no wonder you've been left behind.
BRANDON: Shut up!
(THE EMPEROR disappears)
THE EMPEROR: You're far too inferior to be of any use. I'll find someone else far more suited to the task.
BRANDON: I am not weak.
(BRANDON picks himself up)
BRANDON: But...have I really been left behind?
-Stage 3-
(DIALOG BOX)
LAURREN: His power isn't something you can just take. It's embedded into his soul.
THE EMPEROR: Nevertheless, my plans will move forward. Only I can survive the world's demise.
LAURREN: I won't be far behind.
THE EMPEROR: What?
-End of Stage 3-
(CUTSCENE at Kefka's Tower)
(BRANDON sees SQUALL at a distance and runs up to him)
BRANDON: Yo! I'm glad I finally found someone.
(SQUALL says nothing)
BRANDON: Are you by yourself? Great. We'll just look for our crystals together. Come on.
(BRANDON starts walking but SQUALL doesn't follow.)
SQUALL: Sorry, but I'd rather be by myself.
(BRANDON stops and turns to SQUALL)
BRANDON: What?
SQUALL: To obtain the crystal, each one of us must confront his real enemy.
BRANDON: Then I'll help.
SQUALL: No. We each have our own way. Mine is by myself. I have to do this alone. Sorry.
(SQUALL turns around and walks away. BRANDON'S expression falls.)
BRANDON: What the hell is...EVERYBODY'S PROBLEM WITH ME?
(Concerned, SQUALL faces BRANDON)
BRANDON: I'm so sick of everyone trying to ditching me!
SQUALL: What the?
(After the fight, SQUALL steps back and dismisses his gunblade)
BRANDON: Where do think you're going?
SQUALL: To finished what I set out to do.
BRANDON: We're not done here yet.
SQUALL: Calm down.
BRANDON: Huh?
SQUALL: We won't accomplish anything by fighting each other. If we keep this up, we'll be doing the enemy a favor. Our objective is the crystal. Don't lose sight of that. Instead, try keeping calm and think about what you're doing.
BRANDON: But...I'm not sure if I can do this alone.
SQUALL: You're not alone.
BRANDON: Huh?
(SQUALL shows BRANDON the Chocobo feather)
SQUALL: Even if we're apart, we can still help each other. I can fight alone because I know they believe in me. Or at least I think so. I'll be doing them a favor by doing my part.
(BRANDON tries to say something but can't find the words)
SQUALL: Just...think about what I said.
BRANDON: Are you sure? I mean, what if it's not enough? Will I...
SQUALL: You'll make it.
(SQUALL grunts.)
SQUALL: You're actually pretty strong.
(BRANDON watches as SQUALL walks away.)
BRANDON: Strong, huh?
-Stage 4-
(DIALOG BOX)
THE EMPEROR: What? Explain yourself.
LAURREN: I exist to learn the secret behind secrets. With his powers, I'll be able to see through the light and the dark. When that is finished, I shall escape this endless cycle.
THE EMPEROR: What exactly do you need to do?
LAURREN: I don't need to do anything, but just in case...
-End of Stage 4-
(CUTSCENE, Lunar Subterrane; BRANDON sits down and looks up. COSMOS appears behind him)
COSMOS: Why have you stopped?
BRANDON: It's nothing. Just...thinking about what Squall said. I've always been able to think things through. Outwitting the enemy and making them fall by their own hand. But now, I'm not so sure.
COSMOS: Will you turn your back to your friends?
BRANDON: Friends are there for you, or at least they're supposed to be. I've had to do the rest on my own. They left me behind.
COSMOS: So will you abandon them in return?
(BRANDON turns to COSMOS)
BRANDON: What? No! I'd never do that.
COSMOS: If so, why don't you trust them as they have trusted you?
BRANDON: Trust?
COSMOS: Your friends are also unsure. However, they still believe in their paths and each other. So believe in them.
BRANDON: Trust? Of course, I can't give up just because I'm a little scared. I won't. I'll find my crystal. We all will. We'll end this conflict. If I don't, I really would be abandoning them. Thank you, Cosmos.
(COSMOS disappears)
BRANDON: I can't let them down. I'll do my part.
-Stage 5-
(CUTSCENE, THE RIFT; BRANDON is walking around)
LAURREN: What do you think you're doing?
(LAURREN appears)
BRANDON: Laurren!
LAURREN: Haven't given up on the crystal yet, have we?
BRANDON: There's no “we” anymore. I'm not gonna abandon my friends' trust.
(LAURREN lowers her head)
LAURREN: But...you'll abandon me? After all we've done?
BRANDON: “After all we've done?”
(LAURREN prepares an attack)
LAURREN: You'll just cast me aside?!
(LAURREN throws magic at BRANDON; BRANDON blocks but nothing happens. He sees that CLOUD, TERRA, and ONION KNIGHT have shown up)
LAURREN: Come and find me, my little magpie.
(LAURREN disappears)
BRANDON: Wait!
TERRA: Are you alright?
BRANDON: Yeah, I'm okay.
ONION KNIGHT: Are you gonna go after her?
BRANDON: Yeah.
CLOUD: She's pretty tough. You might need some back-up.
BRANDON: Thanks, but I have to go alone.
TERRA: But...
CLOUD: I understand. Will you be okay?
BRANDON: Yeah. I'll be back with the crystal in no time. Trust me.
CLOUD: Alright.
-End of Stage 5-
(CUTSCENE, Twilight's Center; BRANDON approaches LAURREN)
LAURREN: So you came.
BRANDON: Laurren, what did you mean when you said, “everything we've done?”
LAURREN: Hmph, so you really don't remember.
BRANDON: What?
LAURREN: During the last conflict of the gods, I created you as a tool on the side of Chaos. We then became partners, tipping the scale for the god of discord.
BRANDON: What?
LAURREN: We made a great team, you and I. I even thought that maybe we could be more than partners. But it appears that you have abandoned me for Cosmos and her pawns.
BRANDON: You're lying!
LAURREN: Am I now? If I'm not, why not just come back to me?
BRANDON: Because I can feel it. I've had my doubts, but now I can feel my friends' faith in me, and I can also see that...you're no friend of mine!
(LAURREN takes a fighting stance)
LAURREN: It doesn't matter anymore. You're not the person I used to know. You're worthless.
-Next Scene-
(BRANDON is flying around the stage with LAURREN following; LAURREN tosses magic at BRANDON who is dodging each shot)
LAURREN: It's time to clip those wings.
BRANDON: Like I haven't heard that one before.
(BRANDON is trapped into a corner and LAURREN barrages him with magic causing smoke to cover the area)
BRANDON: Ahh!
LAURREN: Time to take back that power I gave you long ago.
(the smoke clears; BRANDON is on the floor as LAURREN approaches)
LAURREN: I don't know what it is that makes you so persistent, but it's mine now.
(LAURREN moves to grab BRANDON, but BRANDON instantly gets up and launches a blast of light at LAURREN, pushing her back)
BRANDON: Never walk away from a fight that's worth fighting. Never hesitate when you know you're gonna act. Never waste your words on a fool who won't listen. And never sell your soul 'cuz you'll never buy it back.
(BRANDON takes a fighting stance)
BRANDON: Words to live by.
(LAURREN takes a fighting stance)
LAURREN: You're about to drown in the things that you've said.
-After the fight-
(LAURREN fades away)
LAURREN: Argh! I hate you. I HATE YOU!
(As soon as LAURREN disappears, BRANDON's crystal appears)
BRANDON: My crystal. This is it.
(BRANDON takes his crystal)
BRANDON: (thinking) Even if what Laurren said was true, I'm here now. My friends have placed there faith in me. I won't abandon them because I trust them and they trust me. Together, we'll build our own future.
WARRIOR OF LIGHT: You've obtained your crystal, as I knew you would.
(BRANDON turns around; WARRIOR OF LIGHT approaches)
WARRIOR OF LIGHT: Let us hurry to our comrades so we may end this conflict.
BRANDON: Yeah. Let's do this.
BRANDON: (thinking) They've always believed in me, since the beginning. In turn, I won't let them down.

Here's my conundrum. I have a Playstation 2, a Wii, a DS and access to a PS3.
I want a PSP, but only to play 2 games on. Once I'm done with them, I'll probably never pick the thing up again. If I were to get a PSP it'd have to be a worthwhile investment (I'd have to use it more than for just those two games).
Can anyone recommend some good games for the PSP? Or am I just gonna waste my money on it if I don't end up using is aside from these two (Dissidia Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep), and it'll just sit and gather dust and be of use to no one?

I have an older (3 years maybe? Online its warranty says it expired two years ago on the 17th) Xbox 360 that does not play game discs. I'm not sure that it could ever play original Xbox games anyway since I believe it's an "Arcade" model (I got the thing used as a gift) but it doesn't play the 360 games I've tried either.
Anyway, I really want to start getting some used 360 games and such and make use of this thing, but I don't know what I should do. Microsoft lets you send consoles in for repair but it costs $100 (I'm guessing they pay shipping since there's an option to print the shipping label). On the other hand, a brand new Arcade would be $200 (getting an Elite is right out of the question). There are people on Craigslist who offer to do repairs for $80, but that's a good chunk of money for no guarantee and I don't know about their reliability or honesty. Also, since I already have two controllers and perfectly good cables and the HDD and everything I really don't want to buy an entire new system . . . I just want a working console!
Does anyone have any advice? What would you do in my situation?

I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with these items and could tell me how they perform. How are the feel of the buttons and how does it feel like in your hand? Too small, big, etc.? How long is the battery life? Can you buy rechargeable batteries for it? Maybe a batter pack like with 360 controllers?
Thanks for your help!

This mix centers around Mai and her various connections/relationships, as seen in The Boiling Rock. Seven songs, MP3s and MP4s.

Do you ever go through a phase of playing through old school games? Lately I've been busting my ass on ebay trying to find some of the older Zelda games for Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance. I loved playing Link's Awakening but can't find my copy and never got to experience some of the other games for the handhelds which is why I'm looking. I'm looking for other older games like Wario. Man I loved Warioland 3 but again can't find my copy. Do you do this? What games have become your nostalgia obsessions?
Once again I apologies for my crappy scanner.
